Good advice was a rare commodity 23 years ago when Kevin found his personal and professional lives evolving. He and his wife were about to start a family and – having recently sold his retail business – he was seeking a new career. After a year long search, Kevin sought financial advice as a means of securing his future. Instead he found a passion for financial services and his future was realized. Kevin earned his CFP designation and set out to educate people on money matters, one client at a time. As a focused and passionate leader, Kevin’s greatest reward comes from helping clients make informed financial decisions. “There are two things we have no control over: the markets and life. We help our clients make great decisions that are designed – among other things – to weather the unexpected."
I work closely with financial planners and investment advisors to help them grow their business through the Family Asset & Inheritance review program. Estate planning does not end with the client. It is essential that the Executor has the knowledge and the tools to ensure the successful transition of an estate. It is through the process of Executor engagement before the client passes that can facilitate success.
On behalf of advisors, I conduct compelling client-centric seminars that get clients motivated to get organized and complete their planning process. It deepens relationships for advisors and opens them up to whole new world of referral business.
The role of Executor is often thought
of as a position of “honour". Most
people who accept the role of Executor do so without fully comprehending what
will be required of them. Being appointed as an Executor of a Will has a
great deal of responsibility. It is a fiduciary duty and there is
considerable personal liability associated with it. As a Certified Executor Advisor, my job is to
set the Executor up for success by providing them with a roadmap for their
future role, as well as, working with the Testator to make sure his/her wishes
are understood. By working together, the
Executor has the direction and the information required to fulfill the final
wishes of the Testator and will significantly reduce the time and risk associated with performing these duties.
No one wants their Executor to fail. Working together and planning
ahead goes a long way in setting up the Executor to succeed. That is best
way to ensure that this role is truly an "honour".
Rick is a life insurance and living benefits specialist. In 30 years of business - interesting stuff has happened with his client's businesses, their family members and their employees as they face the life's events.
As a Certified Executor Advisor, Rick is honoured to hold the hand of the person, that his client has appointed as their Executor. Most people do not do the activities of an Executor on a daily basis and they are called to duty at a highly emotional time.
Rick takes a unique approach in his practice. When there is harmony in the family prior to a loss, he wants that harmony to continue when the unexpected happens, by facilitating family and business discussions about the inevitable, well before the Executor needs to act.
Rick's personal and company motto is "Live Large Now" but take some time to make sure all of your ducks are in a row.
I own an independent Financial Planning firm. I am a licensed insurance broker and a Registered Dealing Representative in the Exempt Markets.
My
name is Loida Martel, and I am a licensed Funeral Director and a Certified
Executor Advisor. I am the founder of an amazing company called Personal
Affairs Consulting, aimed at helping all Canadian families with their Estate
Administration needs.
Our
services can be broken down into 3 categories:
1. Estate Planning:
You have
a consultation with a Certified Executor Advisor to discuss how you can go
about having your affairs in order. We would discuss everything that is
applicable to your circumstances and situation in order to protect yourself, property,
assets, family, and wishes.
2. Estate Administration:
Once
a death has occurred, we work with the Executor or legal next of kin to
complete all the necessary notifications and cancelations. From every government
agency to personal paperwork.
3. Senior Services:
Lastly, we
work with those aged 60+ in assisting them with applying for their pension (CPP
& OAS), as well as other government benefits and programs they may be eligible
for due to their age or income level.
Having
worked in the Funeral Service industry for over 13 years has provided me with an
immense amount of experience and a unique perspective. I have worked with
families from all walks of life and helped them during one of the most difficult
moment in their lives. However, I saw there was a need in the community to do
more to facilitate, be a resource, and provide guidance for the families we
served. Through my company I know I can provide my clients with the
information, tools, and means to feel confident in making informed decisions in
life about various topics. And if I cannot provide it for them, I know I have a
network of trusted professionals I can rely on to aid them.
(We
currently only serve the province of Ontario)
