Barbara is licensed as a Certified Executor Advisor and is licensed in BC and Alberta as a Life Insurance Broker.
Barbara is passionate about working with families and family business owners. She belongs to a network of like-minded professionals from various disciplines that are available to her clients. This provides the opportunity to provide comprehensive and customized financial solutions to address debt, insurance, investment, tax and estate goals more holistically.
The dynamics of family business are quite familiar to her, as the daughter of long time entrepreneurs in the West Kootenay Region. She has been married for 22 years and is raising two children, ages 8 & 10.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management from Royal Roads University and currently studies Grade 3 Piano with the Canadian Conservatory of Music, among many other life long learning pursuits of interest that support her family and work.
Extensive experience of 15 years providing holistic financial advice to clients as an Advisor with Sun Life. June 2021 I made a difficult decision to leave that role and and took several months to determine what my next challenge was going to be.
Education in the field has always been important to me and, along with the CEA, I have completed the following additional designations over the years: CLU, CFP, MFA-P, RCIS and CHS.
I enjoy developing plans for clients and helping them understand all that is required to achieve their financial goals. My expertise is definitely on the risk management (insurance) side of the equation and explaining how the various types of coverage work.

Ian entered the Financial Services business in 1975 focusing on credit and consumer financing for small business owners. He then developed a practice in Financial Management for business owners and became part of a collaboration of Accountants, Lawyers, Risk Managers as well as a Management Coach. His success in this area allowed him to pursue Estate and Business Succession planning.
In 1989, along with Karl Krokosinski, founded Customplan Financial Advisors Inc. expanding office’s throughout Canada. He was a consultant to the National Office of Equinox Financial Group in the development of the Electronic Sales Platform, including the Financial Needs Analysis and many of its Marketing Concepts.
Ian has written numerous training systems for the industry and has spoken extensively at industry and non-industry venues.
He works with advisors in developing their compliance processes and CRM capabilities.
Ian is licensed in BC, AB, SK, ON, NB, NS , NFLD/LAB and works with clients in all these provinces.

I have been working in this business for 10 years. As I journey with my clients I am seeing more complex estates and diverse families. I am a CEA advisor so that I can assist others to navigate some of these complex issues.

Canada in 2015. He has over 25 years of financial industry experience.
His academic knowledge has been complimented by supporting business
bankers, junior advisors and being an estate specialist for an Ontario Credit Union for over 17
years. His volunteer work with FP Canada and
FP Canada Institute since 2008 has included:
the Examinations Committee, the Book of Knowledge Committee, the Professional Disciplinary Panel, the Awards and Recognition
Committee, an initial instructor for the Professional Education Program, and
serving on multiple National research panels that have explored such questions as; Inhibitors to
Financial Plan Implementation, Technology and
it’s effect on Financial Planning, CPP Decision Model, and
recently the RSP Drawdown Model.
As a Sr Practice Management Consultant, my work with Financial Advisors is focused on financial planning process and insurance, investment planning, income tax planning, disability planning, retirement planning and employee benefits, business ownership planning and transition, executive compensation, pension planning, estate and legacy planning.
