Earning the Certified Executor Advisor designation allows me to combine 15 years of experience in financial risk management and estate planning with my genuine commitment to helping families and business owners navigate life’s most important transitions.

With over 20 years in the Financial Industry I still find inspiration in the families with whom I'm fortunate to partner with and the community I enjoy serving.

There's a special place in my heart for families who have the responsibility of caring for a disabled child, as my family has experienced these challenges first hand. I am wholly aware of the complex needs we, as parents carry. It brings me joy and hope to share different options to help families take advantage of the many programs available to save for and protect our children's financial future.

Growing up I was the kid who counted her piggy bank every Sunday, kept ledgers and balanced sheets. I loved seeing how the numbers changed from week to week. As a teen, my dad gave me the book "The Wealthy Barber" and my world changed. I was amazed at the seemingly simple concepts but baffled as to why more people didn't know or take advantage of the information. I knew then it would be part of my personal mission to educate, protect and build wealth for as many families as I could, making an impact in this generation, but more importantly on future generations utilizing financial literacy, wealth strategies and legacy planning tools.

As a member of the Komoka-Kilworth Optimist Club, Hyde Park BIA and Women Making a Difference I value the growth and knowledge these service organizations contribute to our local and global community.

I am a Chartered Accountant and Manager with Avail LLP in Taber, Alberta. I work with our estate group to assist families with their final return and estate tax preparation needs as well as estate planning. I seek to help clients navigate their duties as executor during what can be an emotional and stressful time and help mitigate that stress by being a resource in an area that most people are unfamiliar with.

My name is Rachel McDonald, President & Owner of McDonald Estate Services Ltd.  I began my career in estate administration working with my father who practised law for over 50 years!  Although my Law Clerk Certification provided a great basis for estate administration, the lessons learned through processing thousands of Probate/Certificate of Appointment applications, or acting as a professional Executor, have been invaluable. With over ten years of experience in this field, I have not only honed my practical skills to work efficiently, but also the communication skills necessary to deal with the sensitive and confidential  matters relating to estates.  I truly enjoy getting to know my clients and using my expertise to help them navigate through this difficult process.

Early in my career as a financial security advisor, I
learned a very valuable lesson; the work I do when one of my clients passes
away is some of the most important work that I can do.

Becoming a CEA has increased the support I can offer my
clients. My ideal client wants to make the executor’s job as easy as
possible. They understand by reviewing what they want to happen when
they die will help their executor perform their required duties. Being an
executor is a job no one wants; a friend or loved one must pass away for it to
start. There is no training for the role and often minimal support. My process
helps the client identify ways to make the executor’s job easier. We also
involve the future executor to help them prepare and understand the magnitude
of their role.
