I am a CPA, CA and have been interested in estate organization for years.  Throughout my career in the small-cap corporate world, I always felt an element of "social purpose" was missing for me and have now found that pursuing the fundamental start for estate planning and organization - creating Wills.

I have been working in the financial services industry since 1991 and I am the founder of National Wealth Management. My broad and diverse background in the industry has allowed me to enjoy a rewarding career while working on financial planning situations of virtually any level of complexity.

I strongly believe that for financial planning strategies to be truly effective, a very strong relationship must exist between advisor and client, with a high level of trust on both sides. I believe that the advisor must understand the client’s goals on a deep level, share in ideas, and then through consultation with them, create solutions that will ultimately allow them to help reach their desired financial destination.

I was born and raised in Halifax where I still live with my wife Elena. I am the proud father of four wonderful children. I am passionate about the outdoors, spending much of my free time traveling, sailing, and hiking with my family throughout the world. I am passionate about the arts and building a bright future for my community.

I have made it a goal of National Wealth Management to donate a minimum of one percent of net profits to non-profit, charitable, and community organizations each year. 

Kevin P. Empey is an independent Certified Financial Planner ® with Investment Planning Counsel. He has been helping individuals, families, and business owners achieve their financial goals since 1999. Kevin undertakes a thorough and specialized approach to the development and implementation of comprehensive financial plans for his clients. 

Prior to joining Investment Planning Counsel, Kevin was a Professional Civil Engineer in Ottawa, Ontario. He has integrated the same precision, problem-solving, and analytical attributes into his financial planning practice. 

Kevin continues to commit himself to maintaining long-term client relationships to help each client reach their financial goals.  

I work with business owners, health care professionals, retirees, as well as established families seeking professional guidance transferring wealth to the next generation. I specialize in wealth strategies, business owner considerations, business owner retirement plans, retirement income strategies, and estate and legacy considerations.

I was born and raised in Williams Lake, BC. My mom and late father were self-employed and operated a mobile home and log hauling company. I have an entrepreneurial spirit and identify with business owners largely due to the values my parents instilled in me from an early age. I have two loyal Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Nala and SeaTac, and my hobbies include fitness, nutrition, hiking, biking, and hockey.

Gil is married and has three children with his wife
Carol. He grew up on a family farm at Glenavon, Saskatchewan.  The agricultural roots and strong family
influences dominate the value Gil brings to the succession and retirement
planning he specializes in for farming clients and small business owners
throughout the province. Being a CEA (Certified Executor Advisor) enhances
value for those families.

Gil gained his CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) (1994),
CHFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) (1995) degrees from University of Toronto
and CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation (1996) from the Financial
Planners Standards Council. The Canadian Securities Course was passed in 1995.
Gil is a Notary Public since 1998. Education and the pursuit of excellence in
financial planning for his clients is a hallmark of Gil’s career.

Outside of work Gil loves to travel, golfing, hiking,
making wine and visiting with family and friends. He has and continues
volunteer activities with Knights of Columbus, Lions Club – past board member
and officer of both, Regina Optimist Dolphins Swim Club - past board member and
officer and with Canadian Association of Farm Advisors (CAFA).

Gil is dedicated to the premise, “We improve people’s

As Co-founder of The Empowered Estate, I bring over
20 years of experience as a legal administrator specializing in Wills &
Estates and Real Estate. I’ve seen firsthand how navigating the complexities of
estate administration can strain families and leave executors overwhelmed.
That’s why I’m passionate about creating a holistic approach to executor
support that empowers individuals who take on this responsibility to do so with
confidence and clarity.

I offer practical tools and thoughtful resources to help
executors and families work together harmoniously. My mission is to shift the
narrative around estate administration from one of stress and conflict to one
of preparation, communication, and trust.

Together with my business partner, a funeral director and
death doula, we combine our professional expertise with a family-focused
perspective to address not just the technical, but also the emotional and
relational aspects of end of life planning.
