The CEA designation has been a career changing, and therefore life changing event. As I approached my 65th birthday I found the CEA was the panacea for my retirement plans.  After 25 years of providing financial planning and investment management advice I could see a way to stay involved with my clients by focusing entirely on their estate planning needs.  With 70% of Canadians either not having Wills or having Wills that reflect their current wishes there is a huge need in Canada. Not knowing how to select an Executor is often one of the reasons why Wills never get done.  But being armed with the knowledge gained from the CEA now allows me to break that inertia and get excellent Wills completed."

The severity of family dynamics that play out in my counselling room day after day would perhaps take many people's breath away. Seldom are the dynamics felt more deeply or painfully than when a recent death has taken place. Unresolved family issues along, poor listening skills, lack of knowledge about the grieving process, and a decided absence of stress management skills cause much unnecessary havoc and pain for the surviving individuals. It has been my experience that a strong background in stress management strategies, sufficient knowledge about how healthy and unhealthy "family systems" function, and  well developed conflict resolution skills are all MUSTS for professionals faced with the task of successfully fulfilling their executor duties.
